Our Projects

Each and everyday our vision for New Roots comes more and more to fruition. Thanks to the generous support from individuals all over the United States and Canada, we have been able to sustain an amazing growth pattern. As the farm continues to grow, we will continue to have a list of infrastructure projects that we need to complete.

Often we find that people would like to support our work here, but don’t know what our needs are. This page will serve as a place for us to present upcoming projects. If you would like to help us complete a project below you can email nick@NewRootsHaiti.org or donate directly on line at www.newrootshaiti.org/donate. In the memo line just add which project you are giving towards.

Be sure to check back often because as projects are funded and completed, we will update this list.

Land Purchase

As we continue to grow, one of our biggest needs is more land. This year we need to purchase an additional 10 acres to keep up with our growth projections.

Costs: $5,000 per acres

Repair Solar Panel Structure

Our original structure was built with steel to be cost effective. The tropical rains have caused it to rust out and now we would like to replace it with a proper galvanized steel structure that will last decades.

Cost: $ 10 000

New Farm Truck

Our truck is used daily for work on the farm. We currently have an older truck that requires a lot of repairs. We would like to purchase a second truck for redundancy and one that will be able to last and be repaired.

Costs: $ 30 000

Lithium Battery Upgrade

Aging Batteries, combined with our complete dependence on off grid energy has us constantly searching for better ways to improve our system. Currently we have to run our generator every night for 6 or so hours to keep lights on all night. We would like to replace the older batteries with Lithium technology. This will more than double our capacity allowing us to operate the Butcher shop, Office, Walk in cooler, guest house all 100% on solar power. These batteries are rated to last 10 years without any maintenance.

Costs: $ 35 000
