About us

We believe that lasting change begins with deep roots—rooted in dignity, opportunity, and local leadership. Our vision is to see rural Haitian communities equipped with the tools they need to rise: access to education, sustainable agriculture, economic development, and strong family structures.

Our Story

About Haiti

At New Roots Haiti, we envision a flourishing Haiti where families are empowered, children thrive, and communities grow strong—physically, spiritually, and relationally—from the ground up.

Nick and Nikki grew up in the same small town, bonding over yearly mission trips to Mexico. Though Nick once prayed never to do missions long-term, he promised Nikki they’d live abroad for a year after she graduated. In 2016, with just $500, they took a leap of faith—buying land to build a home, start a farm, and create programs to strengthen families, trusting God to provide beyond their expectations.

Haiti is a beautiful island located in the Caribbean 800 miles south of Florida. It shares the island of Hispanola with the Dominican Republic. When a lot of people think about Haiti, images of poverty and desperation come to mind. Although it is true that Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, this is not what we see. We want to work to change peoples mindsets so that they too are capable of seeing the true beauty that resides here.

Why Social Enterprise?

At New Roots, we believe that true, lasting change comes from within a community—not from continued reliance on outside aid. That’s why we intentionally invest in social enterprises that generate income, create jobs, and strengthen Haiti’s local economy.
